I love these things. I bought a T6oo in perfect condition for $85. It said it worked. Got it home and could only get a slight sound out of it. I had to find another one that worked. I got another off of ebay for $45 bucks. It looked like it had been around the world and back many times, just beat up. It worked great right off though. Then I switched the tubes and put them in the other one and off it went. Now I also have a h500 too in good condition. I want to get the book The Royalty of radios. I'm hooked now.

Hi there I see you mention our KRC-A-2 90 Volt battery replacement. Are you aware it was updated a couple of years ago. It is no longer produced on veroboard and only draws a few microamps when in standby. The efficencey of the inverter is much improved and the unit runs from a pack of AA batteries. TonyWestbrok.

Hi there,

I pulled one of these from the recycle bin in work today, went out and bought 9 D batteries, filed a couple of the rusty battery contacts, flicked the mains/battery supply switch a back and forth a few times (thanks for the tip) .... and the thing sprung to life... couldn't believe it.

FM works fine, the shortwave bands seem to be picking up something although they are a little quiet, I will know better when I get it home as I am in a large metal building with a thouse computers running...

Thanks for providing all this information. I am a "Newbie" to the T/O and am learning on the fly. So far, I am really impressed with the reception and sound of the unit. I think I have stumbled upon a new, and very addictive, hobby.

Thanks again for your help.

I have two Zenith T/O model 7000/2 and just purchased a B600. I have always found these radios facinating since I was very young. For the model B600 I am still looking for a economical battery type replacement. From what I have seen so far I like Jim Poitivient set-up. I have not been able to reach him yet. With the model 7000 replacement batteries is not an issue as it takes 8 of them.

Keep up the good work

John Romano
